How do XSpot beacons work with connected insoles?
An XSpot beacon uses a Long Range Bluetooth antenna to produce a signal at regular intervals, at a given power.
XSole PTI insoles that also have a Long Range Bluetooth antenna can perceive this signal when they are within range of the beacon. XSole PTI insoles must have the Bluetooth function activated in XS Manager.
Depending on the type of information contained in the signal from the beacon(s), the XSole PTI insole will adapt its behavior to the situation. This behavior is in fact localized within the range radius of the XSpot tag.
For what usages ?
XSpot tags can be used for several purposes:
Improve the quality of indoor positioning where the signal from geolocation satellites no longer carries or with insufficient precision. Outdoors, the beacons can also be useful in small areas surrounded by high buildings or to indicate precisely at the level of a high structure. (the tower of a chimney, the floor of a scaffolding or an industrial infrastructure).
Mark fixed and mobile dangerous zones: by assigning a Danger type to a beacon and placing it on a risk zone (a well, the storage of dangerous products), a vehicle, the soles will start to vibrate as soon as it will be within range of the beacon. For vehicles, an adapted mode can be activated on the soles and beacons in order to improve their reactivity (contact TRAXxs Customer Service for more information).
Delimit zones without alert: a changing room, the interior of a vehicle can be marked by an XSpot beacon configured in "Zone Without Alert" in order to avoid any risk of false alert of the type Loss of Verticality.
Activate the immobility alert mode: unlike the Loss of verticality which requires an offset of the soles relative to the ground, the Immobility Alert only takes into account the inactivity time of the insole. This mode can be useful for people working seated in a cramped cabin.
Signal range and area accuracy
The range of each beacon is configurable and allows the deployment to be adjusted to the configuration of the building or the place to be beaconed. To learn more about the scope of tags and their precision, you can read this article.
What is the difference with an XSwitch relay and is there a link between them?
An XSpot beacon only sends a signal. It does not interact with XSole PTI insoles or with XSwitch relays. It is a so-called passive equipment which merely provides information to the soles.
An XSwitch relay is an active device that communicates with the XSole PTI insoles on the one hand and with the XS Manager server on the other. Its role is to extend communications to the soles beyond the white zones.
